Well, this COVID-19 thing is dragging on and I’m getting really tired of it; life was a lot more fun for a lot of us before all this. I do emotional resilience training, and even I am really tired of being emotionally resilient. How about you?

Okay, let’s get real and deal with this mess. When you look back from your deathbed, how will you have handled the COVID-19 crisis of 2020?

Step 1: Acknowledge that this situation is stressful and that you wish that your life were easier like before.

Step 2: Get clear and focused on your mission, vision, and values for your life.

Step 3: Do your environmental scanning. Research the trends that are likely to affect your business in the short term and for 3-5 years out.

Step 4: Get clear and focused on your mission, vision, and values (these should be the same) for your business.

Step 5: Get clear and focused on your product, marketing, people, and financial plan for this year.

Step 6: Update this plan more often than usual during this crisis, and change it to adapt to your environment like you’ve always done.

Step 7: Pat yourself on the back for taking charge and controlling everything you can during a difficult time, and then let go of the rest and count your blessings.

High-Performance Habits

  1. Don’t overwhelm yourself with unrealistic expectations; this is a tough business and life environment for a lot of us.

  2. Adjust your business and life plan to your environment like you’ve always done.

  3. Ambiguity is the enemy; get clear and focused, and don’t waste your time and money.
